Ricardo, the owner of Santa Barbara PC Tech, began his journey with computers in 1984, working in his father’s machine shop. His fascination with electronics and mechanical devices has only grown since then, with a particular interest in understanding how they function and operate.
In 1991, Ricardo pursued a diploma in Electronics and Microcomputer Repair from the United Educational Institute, where he also tutored students and helped set up labs for the college. Even before graduating, he secured a position at a local shop called Computer Max, where he specialized in building custom, made-to-order machines for computer expos and trade shows. After completing his education, Ricardo continued to expand his expertise by working for various companies in the computer field. In 1995, he underwent additional training with major computer component manufacturers at Ingram Micro, earning certifications such as Adaptec Ace Level 1 & 2, 3COM Technologist Wizard, and Novell CNA.
Beyond his professional achievements, Ricardo is deeply committed to his community. He serves on the board of a nonprofit organization that supports low-income housing projects and has successfully raised funds to preserve a community event center that was at risk of being closed and sold.
Ricardo is currently involved in several startups aimed at driving the future of technology.
In his personal time, Ricardo enjoys yoga, meditation and understanding the human experience. He has a love for custom motorcycles and hot rods. He is also a music enthusiast and frequently attends concerts at the Santa Barbara Bowl and other venues.
